Acne and Hyperpigmentation
Q.) Can you suggest products to address acne and hyperpigmentation?
A.) Oil cleansing is often beneficial for acne-prone skin. We can recommend massaging the multi-purpose Herbal Infusion Oil over your entire dry face for a full 60 seconds, then gently wiping it off with a soft cloth like our Organic Cotton Washcloths. If you aren't familiar with oil cleansing, it is a gentle cleansing method that doesn't strip the skin like a harsh alkaline soap or foaming cleanser can. Using harsh soaps or foaming cleansers often results in a tight, irritated, dehydrated epidermis that is out of balance, therefore acne gets triggered.
Next, encouraging cell turnover is helpful for both acne and hyperpigmentation. The Daily Acid Toner and Active Enzyme Exfoliator are wonderful at this when used as directed!
Finally, hyperpigmentation can result from both acne or sun exposure. In either case, sun exposure will prolong hyperpigmentation. Wearing a broad spectrum SPF of 30 or higher every day, rain or shine, is essential. Our Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30 is a moisturizing sunscreen that can be used on a daily basis to protect against both UVB (skin-burning) and UVA (skin-aging) wavelengths.
